As we get close to the 2 1/2 year mark with two toddlers, we are finding ourselves encountering an extra dose of difficulty. So, this weekend, we are laying down the law with a 3 step approach:
1. We're bringing back some old equipment...Booster Seats
The boys have been struggling the past few weeks with eating, staying at (and off) the table, and throwing. To say the least, meal times have been a source of frustration. So, as of tomorrow morning, it's back to strapping them in. We're going the 'throw it & your done' route and we'll give freedom at the table a try again in a while.
2. We're pulling in some new equipment...the Time Out Pad
We've been doing time outs in a pack-n-play. Up until very recently, we only had to do 1 or 2 a week. Now, they enjoy going in (even ask for it) and then, basically destroying the thing. They'll pull up the hard piece that lays at the bottom, then jump on the actual fabric floor. It's not long until they break it, so we are moving on. Hopefully we'll find success with the new system...please!
3. We're adding more structure!
As babies, we always kept the boys on a pretty tight schedule. However, since we have moved, we have gotten a little more lenient and we've experimented with a few different nap times. Naps have been a disaster the past few weeks and both boys still really need them. We'll start each day at the same time, eat meals at the same time, nap at the same time and go to bed at the same time each day. I'm looking for a preschool curriculum that we can work on in the afternoons just to give us something regular & focused to do. Flexibility will return, but not for a few weeks :)
Wish us luck! Trying to tame the double dose of terrible twos is like trying to wack the mole on that old game...you never know what's coming next or where it's coming from. Luckily, we have good boys with big hearts and I'm certain we'll all make it through!

Good luck! Hopefully you'll soon get some more predictability. We must regain control! :)
