Alright, Alright...

To appease the masses, or at least the few of you that actually check this blog often enough to know it hasn't been updated in a month and then complain about it, I offer an update on the Habben family :)

I have figured out what happens that throws me so far behind...it's photos!  It's the same problem I have had that keeps me from completing the boys baby albums.  It's SO MANY PHOTOS!  December was great, but celebrating Christmas with my family and then on our own left us with hundreds upon hundreds of photos.  While at one point I attempted to try to narrow them down, I just couldn't find the time to finish sorting through them and trying to create a slide show, so I gave up.  So, this will be a wordy post with a few photos.  If you want to see more, you'll have to login to our photo site (if you need the password, email me).

December was a very fun & very busy month.  My parents came the 10th through the 15th and we did a Christmas celebration, complete with a nice big dinner.  We had such a great time with them here and the highlight of the entire trip was a ring of the doorbell on Saturday evening.  As a HUGE surprise to all of us, Auntie flew in to celebrate Christmas with us.  It definitely would not have been the same without her!

Grandma & Grandpa spoiled all of us!  We got tons of gifts, meals out, trips to the Children's Museum & The Big Bounce.  We were busy, busy and had so much fun!

We spent the actual holiday of Christmas just at home with the 4 of us.  It was nice, quiet and relaxing.  Seth had a 3 day weekend, so we just soaked up the extra time with our daddy.  We opened gifts from friends and family and gave the boys their gifts from us.  It was so fun to just watch them play together all day.  They loved celebrating Baby Jesus & were very sad to see decorations & lights coming down and being put away. They still talk about the Baby Jesus we had in the yard in their prayers..now it goes 'thank you for Baby Jesus in the garage' :)

In other big December news, we signed a contract to build a house out in Waco.  Poor Seth has been making the 1 1/2 hour commute each way for over 2 years now and we've all had about as much of it as we can handle.  We are so looking forward to cutting his commute, having him home more and getting more time together as a family.  Since he works for the builder, we get to take advantage of an employee discount and we're getting a great home at a super cheap price!

It will be single story, 2300 square feet with 3 bedrooms & an office.  It's on a HUGE lot (bigger than our Cedar Park house) and in the center of a cul-de-sac!  We couldn't ask for a more kid friendly place for our boys.  Construction should start soon and we are looking at a May move in :)

We're lot #16

We've already been out to Waco twice to look at the lot, neighborhood & similar homes.  And, last Friday we made the trip to Temple (about 45 minutes from where we are now) to pick out our interior design options.  We took the boys with us and they were great.  Now, all we have left to do is wait for it to be finished!

January is flying by!  I started the couch to 5K program and am just starting in on week 3.  We sold some items and were able to purchase a lightly used treadmill and it feels good to be getting regular exercise.  The only downside is that I have to exercise during nap time which means no time for anything else (reading, phone calls, blogging, etc).

In other news, Jaxson has started reading.  The boys have known their letter sounds for a long time and in the past few weeks Jax has started actually putting the sounds together to form words.  We got him this cool toy that makes all kind of words.  We handed it to him and he sounded out & read the word 'hat.'  We're looking at some early reader books and allowing him to determine when we wants to work on reading and when he doesn't.  While I am very proud of him, I am a bit overwhelmed at trying to keep up with him.  He's not even 3!

The boys are still in toddler beds, however, it's not going nearly as well as it was in the beginning.  We have since gotten a 3rd toddler bed for our guest room and most sleeping times, one boy ends up there.  They do fine with the sleeping in bed part when they are separated, it's the resisting the urge to play with your best friend who is right next to you that they have yet to master.  It's a bit maddening and we have tried just giving each their own room, however, they insist on at least starting off together.  We've been working on a sticker chart to help them stay in bed in the same room.  It's been about 3 weeks and they have 5 stickers (all from nap times which is surprising).  Hopefully they'll grow out of this soon and we'll be able to just put them to sleep without playing musical beds.

Well, I think that about updates everyone!  We have a fun filled February to look forward to with lots of Valentine's parties to attend and some old friends coming to visit.  Hopefully I can update a little between now and then :)

Sounds like you guys have a lot of great stuff going on over there! No wonder you have no tie to update! Oh, and the word verification for me below is "materr." How funny.

I have the same problem with blogging. It seems boring without photos but it's so much work to sort through them and write a story around all of it. At least you still blogged... sometimes I just give up and think that a part of our lives will just have to go about undocumented.

So exciting to read about the house. I know each and every feeling you're going through. We're still painting our place. It's so much work but such a joy to have a NEW home!
