More About the Move...

It has been so interesting to me to see the out pour of emotion from friends and family regarding our house. We have received a lot of 'I'm sorry,' or 'that's so sad' type comments and it's kind of funny because neither of us really feel that way. We have had no tears shed and no arguments over this residence and we totally feel like we are making the right move and that it is the right time.

In owning this home, we have learned SO much! We have learned things that well help us in deciding where to live in the future. For example, we do not like having neighbors and keeping up a yard like ours is really time consuming. We have learned that we would like a one story home rather than a 2 story and we would rather have backyard amenities than a media room.

However, more importantly we have learned a lot about ourselves. I have learned that I really hate being told what to do (mom & dad this is probably not surprising to you :). I hate being a slave to anyone or anything. As we have owned this house, it has forced us into a corner where we are too strapped to really feel like we can make any significant changes. We have not had the freedom to do things we wanted to and it has taken away the option to make changes to our life, work or general situation. I have always told Seth that I want OUR goals, values, desires and vision to impact our situation not the other way around.

This time has really impacted our marriage and we couldn't be more proud of the way it has formed us and shaped us. We have been through a lot in the past few years. We have bought our first house, moved half way across the country (leaving everyone and everything we knew behind), started a business, had not one, but 2 babies, started a new job, survived the first year with twins, been close to bankruptcy and now are trying to sell a home...followed by moving. Any one of these events alone could derail a marriage, but it really has just made us stronger. We have never once fought about any of these situations and we have been able to communicate well and rely on one another. We have upheld our wedding vows, and we have 'celebrated life's successes and held [each other] when life's hard."

This house has shown us repeatedly that God is in control and He is GOOD! There was more than one occasion where we looked over the monthly budget, wondering what we would do, when the very next day the answer arrived in the mail. It has gotten almost comical. Even yesterday, the day after we met with our Realtor, a letter arrived that could possibly be a light at the end of this tunnel. God is so good to us and we continue, as best we can, to be faithful. We have really been laughing at Him since we learned He was blessing us with twins. It has been nothing less than a roller coaster ride since. It's a constant reminder that we are not in control, but He who is has a plan and we will be just fine.

We are excited about the future. While we know God is in control, we can't help but feel like our being 'stuck' is impeding His work. Maybe that is just Him telling us it's time to go. If you asked where we will be in the next year, we would honestly tell you that we have no idea! While that may seem crazy and unnerving to some, we love it. We know we are in this together and wherever we go we'll have each other and that is really all we need. We are risk takers and we do our best to roll with the punches. I can only imagine what is in store for us, but history has taught me that I'll be wrong :) The funny thing is, in being wrong, it usually ends up much better than my mind could ever have fathomed.

Anyway, thank you to everyone for your prayers, well wishes and condolences. Please don't be sad or feel bad for us. This is all part of life and it really is part of the fun. A house is a house and anywhere we go can be our home. Everything is a learning process and we know that in a few years we'll look back and be able to see the purpose for all of this. We look forward to what the future holds and we are thankful that we can rely on the one who holds the future!

Praying for your home to sell quickly! We may be where you are in a few more months (due to hubby's job) - your blog posts are encouraging. You're so right on - God is in control and He is good. :-) I'm looking forward to seeing you guys in Nov!!
