Weekend Project #5

This weekend project has spanned the last month or so. In true Grandma fashion, my mom wanted to spoil the boys for their first birthday. Her original ideas were pony rides for their birthday party or a bounce house for the older kids. We went back and forth trying to decide on something that was practical, that we could use for a long time and that would be good to occupy Ethan & Ella when they come to visit next month. Finally we decided on the Little Tikes 8 in 1 Playground.
Seth and I had considered getting one for the boys next Christmas, on recommendation from another twin mom. She recommended that we keep it indoors so, regardless of the weather, we have something fun and active for the boys to play with all year round. We loved that idea, so it seemed like a great compromise to let Grandma spoil them and get it a little sooner than expected.
The arrival of this playground meant that we had to make room for it. We decided to put it in the children's retreat upstairs that has been basically another living room. The retreat housed almost all of our book (tons!), games (I am a huge fan of board games), TV & DVD player, 2 chairs and a love seat and other random stuff...all of which made up the living room of our old aparment.
We moved 1 chair into our bedroom, but left the other and the love seat in the retreat. Part of the bookslef and books were moved downstairs, the games were moved to the guest room and the TV & DVD player were moved into the media room. Trying to move all the furniture and other items with 2 little guys underfoot has been a chore to say the least!
So, this weekend we finally got everything cleared out and got the playground all up. We also put the finishing touches on the baby proofing (gates, outlet covers, door knob covers, etc). The boys love having room to roam! They are enjoying being able to crawl around corners and get into trouble :) They love pulling up on the playground and making their way through the little tunnel. I think this is a fun addition to our home that will get tons of use for years...thanks Grandma & Grandpa!

It's great that you have the space to keep this playscape indoors. And it will be used for YEARS! Plus, when the weather is nice enough to be outside, those boys are gonna need/want to RUN!
